Who’s the training for?

  • For anyone involved in the delivery of the NHS Health Check.
  • Suitable for GP’s, Practice Managers, Health Care Assistants, Health Trainers who are new to Health Checks or as a refresher.

NHS Health Check Training

Length of training -

  • 1/2-day clinical training

Training content -

  • Explaining the need for an NHS Health Check and why it is important.
  • The process of undertaking an NHS Health Check, and clinical knowledge required for effective and safe delivery.
  • How to conduct each stage of the check, reasons for the measurements taken and understanding of results.
  • How to effectively communicate results to patients, and guidance on brief advice, referral, and signposting.

* All participants are required to complete a pre-training worksheet on Cardiovascular (CV) Systems and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) to support their basic understanding of CVD in order to apply this to the training.

* The training presentation and notes and the worksheets [and answers] will be sent to all participants prior to the training date.

NHS Health Check Compliance Training

Length of training - 

  • 1 hour

Training content - 

The training supports GP practices to ensure that all mandated data elements of the Health Check are:

  • collected,
  • correctly clinically coded into the patient's medical record,
  • correctly reported to Public Health. 

Completion of common versions of the Health Check template are covered, alongside a checklist of recommended actions to investigate and address issues in data compliance at practice-level.

Derbyshire Cholestech LDX user & Quality Control reporting Training

Length of training -

  • 1 hour

Training content -

The training will allow participants to refresh on the following:

  • Correct use of the LDX machine during testing
  • The importance of quality control and how to record them
