L5 Student Nursing Associate Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships can be vital in developing practice staff and helping them reach their potential whilst still supporting the organisation by learning new, essential skills. 

This role enables registered nurses to focus on more complex clinical duties. Nursing associates are trained to work with people of all ages and across all four fields of nursing: adult, child, mental health and learning disability.  

TYPICAL DURATION: 24 Months 

FUNDING (amount available through Gifted Levy): £15,000 (amount subject to change) 

THESE ARE ONLY SOME OF THE SKILLS YOU COULD LEARN:  

  • Use project monitoring and reporting techniques to track, interpret and report on performance.
  • Promote health and prevent ill health (physical and mental health checks, smoking cessation). 
  • Child immunisations. Administered under PSD. 
  • Adult immunisation. Administered under PSD.
  • Non-complex wound care. (Leg ulcer management, DOPPLER assessments, compression therapy, sutures, and clip removal).
  • Ear irrigation. Cervical screening.
  • Administration of medication (oral, IM, SC).
  • Collection of pathological and microbiology specimens (venepuncture, swabs, urine cultures).
  • Support chronic disease management (stable asthma reviews, spirometry, preliminary investigations for T2 diabetes, foot checks).
  • Sexual health advice (contraception reviews and administration, contraception advice).
