All primary care staff are expected to complete a minimum level of ensure they can carry out their role safely and effectively. There is an expectation training is updated and refreshed at appropriate intervals.

eLearning for Healthcare (eLfH) have developed a Statutory and Mandatory Training programme which covers key topics for staff working in health and social care settings. These modules are free to access but you will need to register for an account using your NHS email. The training is self-paced and can be accessed at any time.
The CQC states each practice is responsible for determining what mandatory and additional training its staff need, how it is delivered and how it is monitored and for communicating this to staff.
Information and guidance offered on this page are suggestions and ultimately it remains the responsibly of the practice to ensure they comply with statutory requirements and to determine what provision is mandatory, what should be covered, for which roles and at what frequency. Safeguarding Adults
All staff are required to complete Safeguarding Adults training and to access refresher material every 3 years.

Oliver McGowan Training
The Health and Care Act of 2022 introduced a new legal requirement for all registered health and social care providers to provide training on learning disabilities and autism. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the government’s preferred training but the course itself is not mandatory. More information can be found here.
General practice are only required to ensure staff receive training in how to interact appropriately with people with a learning disability and autistic people, at a level appropriate to their role and that staff have support and supervision where required.
